Radar motors

Most radar systems today are still based on a horizontally rotating radar antenna. This is powered by a so-called drive unit, which has to meet much higher demands for use on board a submarine than is usually the case for commercial or other military purposes. The drive must be quiet; it must provide high torque and be very robust in order to withstand wave splash or momentary submergence without stopping working. A compact, pressure-tight version also facilitates integration of the radar electronics directly beneath the antenna.
GABLER Maschinenbau GmbH develops and manufactures such electrical high-power drive units, including the necessary control electronics, observing the military requirements with respect to shock resistance and seaworthiness. |
